Carp

The carp (Cyprinus carpio) fish is from the family Cyprinidae. It has an extended, thick body completely covered with scales. The massive head ends with four brood lips, and the mouth can be extended in the form of a tube that carls through and sucks the food from the bottom. The only dorsal fin has at the beginning a toothed and very sharp air. According to the habitat, the color varies from white to brown to back, and becomes lighter with copper reflections on the hips, ending with more or less light belly.

Habitat and behaviour

Carp is more fond of stagnant water or sloping river, which is very warm in the summer. Especially its sweet water is rich in water vegetation, and it has a small percentage of dissolved oxygen in the water. In the first years of life carp lovingly live in sailboats, but when larger older specimens resort to lonely life The caracteristics of carp is both nightly and daily, but is in any case associated with water temperature. If the water is cold, the carp restricts its movement and nutrition and consumes less energy.

Carp’s body can be large from 50 to 100 cm and can live up to 30 years of age.

Propagation

For propagation, the carp is needed at a temperature of at least 20 ° C for ten days. As soon as this temperature reaches, in some waters in May, but more often in June or July, females move to grassy areas. They lay 120,000 to 130,000 eggs per kilogram of weight, which for a female of 15 kilograms represents more than 1.8 million eggs. The young is born four to five days after the males grow.
